Tough Mudder for Brooklyn

In March 2014, we met a young girl by the name of Brooklyn Wood. This incredible girl had lost her the majority of her right arm in a motor vehicle accident barely a month prior to us meeting her. After speaking with Brooklyn and her family, we decided that we wanted to do something for Brooklyn, to help raise her spirits during that difficult time. We decided that we would run the 2014 Tough Mudder in Mesa, AZ to help raise funds for Brooklyn, and help her and family move forward with the healing process. 

Our team successfully completed the Tough Mudder in April 2014, with Brooklyn's friends and family cheering us on. Members of her family and a few of their friends even joined us in running the race.

Even though the Tough Mudder was over, our fundraising efforts for Brooklyn were not. After a summer of fundraising, we partnered with local salon Ella6 to host fundraiser for Brooklyn at Ella6's one year anniversary party.

The end result of our fundraiser for Brooklyn was amazing and we decided to do something extra special for her. With the money we raised, we set up a day for Brooklyn to visit Tucson with her mom, and laid out a series of surprises for Brooklyn throughout the day. We broke the day down into 4 Phases of gifts:

Phase 1: A private, professional makeover for Brooklyn done by Ella6's owner, Alexis (We also gave Brooklyn the privilege of choosing whatever haircuts she wanted us to get)

Phase 2: A pair of Beats by Dre Solo HD Headphones

Phase 3: Dinner at RA Sushi at La Encantada

Phase 4: A $500 shopping spree at the La Encantada Mall

On Sunday, November 22nd, Brooklyn and her mom visited Tucson, and we presented Brooklyn with each gift throughout the day. Because her parents had kept everything a secret at our request, each gift was a complete surprise. We started with the makeover at 12:00, and ended with the shopping spree around 6:00. It was an awesome day, and it wouldn't have been possible without the donations and contributions of everyone who supported our fundraiser for Brooklyn.
